“Greenmansion” Grand Opening Date Set

close up signThe time has finally come for the much-anticipated third expansion project of Green Man Brewery to open it’s doors to customers.  Staying true to Green Man tradition, the Grand Opening celebration will be on St. Patty’s Day 2016.  Green Man released its first ever bottles on St. Patty’s in 2013, and has continued celebrations for the rollicking holiday.

The 20,000 square foot “Greenmansion” is located next to current operations on Buxton Avenue on the South Slope of Downtown Asheville.  Inside is a top floor indoor/outdoor tasting room, which overlooks the production floor and offers views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  A ground level “Brewtique” serves as a bottle shop, growler station and merchandise retailer. A sidewalk patio with two firepits offers a prime people-watching hangout.

The production space will start out as a packaging hall with bright tanks, a KHS CombiKeg Keg Wash/Fill, and a brand new KHS bottling line on the way. Eventually the facility will have a specialty brewhouse as well.

“As the first brewery located on the South Slope, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to expand operations in our own neighborhood,” says Elise Carlson, Marketing Manager.

Special beer tappings will occur throughout the day.  Guests are encouraged to dress up as their interpretation of Green Man, and there will be a prize for the best costume.  Food trucks will be on site for the occasion.

The original tasting room, lovingly nicknamed “Dirty Jack’s” by locals, will continue to be open 7 days a week.

Green Man Debuts New Facility to OpenDoors of Asheville

The time is drawing near for Green Man to open the taps in our brand new 20,000 square foot expansion.  As a sneak preview, Green Man will host a private charity event for the nonprofit organization OpenDoors of Asheville on March 5th.  

OpenDoors “connects local children living in multigenerational poverty with an active, individualized network of support and opportunities for education and enrichment.” In addition to several other nonprofits, Green Man has supported this organization for several years and continues to partner with them in fundraising events.

“We feel this is an amazing way to kick start the next chapter of our brewery,” says Wendy Thies, co-owner of Green Man. “We feel so very blessed for the amazing growth we have had and believe it is incredibly important to give back to our community.”  

This occasion marks the very first time guests will enjoy the multi-level facility that showcases 18 taps and outdoor seating areas on two levels. The top-floor tasting room features expansive mountain views and is also open to the activity of the production floor. The ground level “brewtique” has a merchandise center and additional room for tour groups. The year and a half construction project underscores Green Man’s ongoing commitment to Asheville and the South Slope neighborhood.
Several “soft opening” nights will follow the OpenDoors event, with a grand opening extravaganza scheduled for mid-March.  


Green Man Expands Distribution to Entire State of Florida


Green Man Brewery is expanding its distribution South once again, taking on the entire state of Florida.  The craft beer pioneer in Asheville, North Carolina has been steadily ramping up distribution since its second expansion in 2012, starting with North Carolina and spreading out to Tennessee and South Carolina.  Green Man is in the process of opening up the entire state, and Green Man beer will be found statewide in the beginning of December.  


The Brewer’s Association ranks Florida as 8th in the country for economic impact of craft beer, which is an indication of it’s status as an emerging craft beer state.  Tampa has also been named second best beer town in the country by USA Today.   Green Man has developed an eager fan base in the state due to the high crossover of tourism between Florida in Asheville, and the brewery’s owner has strong roots in the state.


“We have received a great deal of enthusiasm for our beer from Florida, and our distribution strategy is to follow where the love is,” explains Dennis Thies, owner. “It is a great homecoming for me.  We are excited to deliver what our fans have been asking for, and just in time for the holidays.”  


Green Man year round flagships IPA, ESB, and Porter will be available initially throughout the entire state of Florida, in 12 oz. bottle six packs and on draft.


Green Man IPA:  Green Man India Pale Ale is delectably hoppy with a properly balanced body. Generous hop additions give it a wonderful bitterness and pleasant floral nose, while a combination of traditional British malts creates a rich, satisfying flavor and alluring copper color.

Look out for Green Man Legendary Ales starting the first week of December, in bottle shops, bars, and restaurants.  Promotional events, tastings, and tap takeovers will be taking place throughout the state during the first three weeks in December.
