German for "old beer", Altbier is top-fermented (the "old way") at a moderate temperature and then left to mature like a standard lager. Riverbend 10!
In celebration of Riverbend Malt house's 10th Anniversary we made this warming, medium-full bodied Wheatwine. We started off with a healthy helping of their new Sunset Wheat, and supported that with Base camp pale malt as well as a bit of honey malt. Hopped with Citra incognito and centennial, we then let this beer ferment to completion before an extended 7 weeks of cold conditioning to soften any rough edges. Expect a complex mélange of flavors and aromas from notes of honey buns and baking spice, to notes of fig, raisin, fruit cake and chewing tobacco. The hops lend an almost balancing bitterness but largely stay out of the way of the malt flavors. This beer was made for the cold, dreary days of an Asheville winter. Cheers, and congratulations to Riverbend on 10 years of supplying the southeast with great craft malt!

A highly quaffable lager with a perfect balance of malt and hop flavors. The aroma opens with notes of light cocoa, cola and hints of dark stonefruit. The flavor is a combination of light roast coffee, chocolate, dark toast, and a touch of sweetness in the mid palate. The flavor finishes with a nice hit of herbal and slight woodiness from the hops and a cleansing dryness. Crisp, light bodied and crushable. Don't be deceived by the dark color, this beer is made to be enjoyed in an afternoon drinking session with friends, over good conversation. Na zdravi! (To your health in Czech)

Resin Theory 2.0
Unlike the traditional West Coast IPA, this one boasts a low haze from the heavy 4 lbs/bbl dry hopping regimen. Medium Bitter from start to finish, this beer evokes loads of under-ripe tropical fruit, dank rips, orange & grapefruit peel, accompanied by hints of peach & blueberry skin through the aroma & flavor. We wanted something that reminded us of the West Coast IPA's we dreamed about in the early 2010s, but with a more modern approach to hopping. This helped us achieve a medium bitterness along with high aroma and flavor contributions, but does lead to some hop haze.

Vienna Lager
A great example of balance in an amber lager format. While Vienna-style lagers are malt forward in flavor and aroma, the hops lend a bitterness which balances the malt character. The sweet, toasty biscuit character from the malt is dried out in the finish by both the minerality of the water and the hop bitterness. This allows this seemingly malt forward beer to be highly quaffable and great for a drinking session with friends. Raise a glass to Anton Dreher, the founder of the style, and enjoy the complexity of this classic lager style.

Mocha Mocha
Built upon our Imperial milk stout base, this beer was then aged upon cacao, whole bean coffee and a subtle amount of 2 types of vanilla beans. We sourced the cacao and coffee from 2 of our favorite local companies, French Broad Chocolates & Cooperative Coffee Co. The Nicaraguan crushed cacao from French Broad lends a quintessential milk chocolate flavor that pairs beautifully with the chocolate & toffee notes coming from Cooperative coffee's El Salvadoran Chelazos. We then amped up the chocolate notes even more by using a light hand to blend in Ugandan & Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans. The results speak for themselves. Expect loads of milk chocolate, hints of dark chocolate, wisps of floral and nuttiness, intermingling with the chocolatey, toffee like nature of the coffee. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Rime Ice Cold IPA
Cold IPA isn't just a rebranding of IPL. While brewed with a lager yeast, it is fermented warm and does not see an extended aging or lagering time. Made with a grain bill of 2-row pilsner malt and rice, like your favorite big brewer domestic lager. But unlike that fizzy yellow water, it's hopped like a west coast IPA, to create a crisp, bitter beer bursting with hop flavor. Hit with a heavy dose of Idaho 7 & chinook in the whirlpool, before being dry hopped at almost 4lbs/bbl of Mosaic, Citra Cryo and Crosby Farms Strata. Expect hop notes of pine, and dank green with hints of lemony citrus and a touch of cracker from the malt. Rime ice forms when supercooled water liquid droplets freeze onto surfaces. Bernie's Hot Lick
A Pre-prohibition pilsner made with the local homebrew club, M.A.L.T. Made in honor of Bernie Kessel, an active member who recently passed away. Bernie, was a lover of the Pre-prohibition style pilsner, and brewed the style many times during his storied homebrewing adventures. In honor of his passion for the style we went back and scoured history, and old brewing articles to find inspiration for this recipe. We utilized a base of North American 6-row malt & 27.5% corn for the grist, and then hopped it with Cluster, CZ Saaz & Hallertau Mittelfruh, to keep it as old-school as possible. Fermented low and slow with our house lager strain, before being spund for natural carbonation, and lagered for 3 weeks. The results do not disappoint! Refreshing, but rustic, and with more flavor then a standard American lager. A medium bitterness helps balance the sweetness from the corn, and adds complexity to the easy drinking nature of
this fine lager. To Bernie!!

Turkish Coffee Milk Stout
Made With Honduras Californeo, a Honey-processed coffee imported by De La Finca and roasted in Boone, NC by Hatchet Coffee. We had this coffee ground extra fine and then used the traditional Turkish method of coffee brewing. This method involves bringing water to a boil, then removing from heat and adding the extra fine ground coffee directly to the water and stirring to incorporate, the mixture is then brought to a boil and removed from heat again to stir. We then added green cardamom seed to the mixture and brought to a boil again before removing from heat and stirring once more. We then allow the coffee to sit so that the fine grounds will settle out and then removed the liquid before injecting it into the finished milk stout. this coffee has the consistency of hot cocoa and the intense full bodied coffee experience of espresso, the green cardamom lends a citrus and floral complexity to the aroma and flavor. @delafincacoffee @hatchetcoffee

Mustachioed Machismo
A medium bodied brown ale built around the idea of everyone’s favorite crunchy Mexican street snack. We took the first runnings and boiled them down with cane sugar to create a heavy simple syrup, which was added back to the end of the boil along with a healthy dose of Mexican Cinnamon sticks. After fermenting out with our house English ale strain, we then let it rest on a moderate amount of toasted coconut, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla and even more cinnamon sticks. The resulting beer is light brown with ruby highlights and has a tan head. The upfront aroma is of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, with hints of smooth creamy vanilla. Flavors of Toasted caramel, cinnamon and light vanilla swirl around in the beginning and middle palate before the cinnamon brings out a med. Dry finish. Best enjoyed while watching your favorite Lucha Libres’ duke it out in the ring. In honor of Movember and all the men growing mustaches in November, go to Movember.com to learn more. CONTAINS LACTOSE & CINNAMON

Mai Tai Bock
A riff on the Mai Tai, we built an quaffable Maibock with a bit of rice to lighten the body and Belgian candi syrup to make a touch of light rum come through. Additions of pineapple and Meyer lemon builds on the fruit forward complexity of these cocktails, and the use of bitter orange peel, sweet orange peel, and dried Persian limes add a bit of character that usually is found in bitter orange liqueurs.
