We utilize the original 10bbl brewhouse inside Dirty Jack's as our dedicated small batch system. Our head brewer Kyle McKenzie is constantly sourcing unique ingredients from around the world to create one-of-a-kind ales and lagers exclusive to our Taprooms.
Unlike the traditional West Coast IPA, this one boasts a medium haze from the heavy 5 lbs/bbl dry hopping regimen. Bitter from start to finish, this beer evokes loads of papaya, dank rips, bitter orange & grapefruit peel, accompanied by unripe mango and overripe peach through the aroma & flavor. We wanted something that reminded us of the West Coast IPA's we dreamed about in the early 2010s, but with a more modern approach to hopping. This helped us achieve a medium bitterness along with high aroma and flavor contributions, but does lead to some hop haze.
New West Coast IPA
A crisp drinkable pale lager in the Dortmunder style. Made with German malts and a touch of wheat, before being hopped exclusively with German hops. An easy drinking lager that fills the space between the malty Munich Helles and the bitter, hop forward German Pils. Notes of herbal spice, ginger, cracker, biscuit and an ever so slight hint of honey come through in the flavor and aroma. The balancing bitterness helps clean off the tongue at the end of the sip and leaves the mouth with a flinty dryness.
A great example of balance in an amber lager format. While Vienna-style lagers are malt forward in flavor and aroma, the hops lend a bitterness which balances the malt character. The sweet, toasty biscuit character from the malt is dried out in the finish by both the minerality of the water and the hop bitterness. This allows this seemingly malt forward beer to be highly quaffable and great for a drinking session with friends. Raise a glass to Anton Dreher, the founder of the style, and enjoy the complexity of this classic lager style.
A New England-style IPA hopped at 6 lbs/bbl and Double Dry hopped with NZ hop varietals, Nectaron & Motueka. Expect a punch in the face of stonefruit and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. NZ Nectaron is the star of this show, and gives off loads of Nectarine, peach rings, fruit cocktail cups, with accent notes of ruby red grapefruit pith, light papaya & mango, along with a hint of resiny dankness.
Rime Ice Cold IPA
Cold IPA isn't just a rebranding of IPL. While brewed with a lager yeast, it is fermented warm and does not see an extended aging or lagering time. Made with a grain bill of 2-row pilsner malt and rice, like your favorite big brewer domestic lager. But unlike that fizzy yellow water, it's hopped like a west coast IPA, to create a crisp, bitter beer bursting with hop flavor. Hit with a heavy dose of Idaho 7 & chinook in the whirlpool, before being dry hopped at almost 4lbs/bbl of Mosaic, Citra Cryo and Crosby Farms Strata. Expect hop notes of pine, and dank green with hints of lemony citrus and a touch of cracker from the malt. Rime ice forms when supercooled water liquid droplets freeze onto surfaces. We hope this beer can supercool you during the heat of this summer!
Radler, meaning cyclist in German, was originally made with a 50/50 blend of a light-colored beer and fruit soda. We took this idea and adjusted it a bit, using our house Lager and then backsweetened it by blending in Grapefruit & Blood orange puree to achieve the sweet fruity component of Radler. The OG Man-mosa, this beer is crisp, fruity, bright and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day on the river or lake. Because this beer contains unfermented sugars, IT MUST BE KEPT COLD AT ALL TIMES, to prevent refermentation in the can. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, PROST!!
Still the Willow Weeps
A rich, malty and roasty porter fermented with lager yeast and cold conditioned for 2 months before being released. Built upon the Baltic style Porters of Eastern Europe, we blended German and English malts, German hops and our house lager yeast, to produce this deceptively easy drinking beer. Expect loads of dark malt character from dark chocolate to espresso roast coffee to dark fruits and nuts. This beer is rich and complex, yet quaffable. Prost!
Too Damn Fine
You can never have too much of a good thing. This is how we feel about pilsners. Crisp, hoppy and refreshing, with enough complexity to pontificate about and simple enough to be an everyday crusher. This unfiltered Kellerpils is a riff on our Damn Fine Pilsner. We kept the same grain bill and hopping regime, but boosted the hop complexity with the addition of German Tettnang. We ferment low and slow with our house lager yeast before spunding for natural carbonation and lagering for 8 weeks. The results speak for themselves, bright noble hoppiness shines atop the light malt base, creating a delicious and quaffable pint. PROST!
Bernie's Hot Lick
A Pre-prohibition pilsner made with the local homebrew club, M.A.L.T. Made in honor of Bernie Kessel, an active member who recently passed away. Bernie, was a lover of the Pre-prohibition style pilsner, and brewed the style many times during his storied homebrewing adventures. In honor of his passion for the style we went back and scoured history, and old brewing articles to find inspiration for this recipe. We utilized a base of North American 6-row malt & 27.5% corn for the grist, and then hopped it with Cluster, CZ Saaz & Hallertau Mittelfruh, to keep it as old-school as possible. Fermented low and slow with our house lager strain, before being spund for natural carbonation, and lagered for 3 weeks. The results do not disappoint! Refreshing, but rustic, and with more flavor then a standard American lager. A medium bitterness helps balance the sweetness from the corn, and adds complexity to the easy drinking nature of
this fine lager. To Bernie!!
A session pilsner, modeled after the most drank beer style in the Czech Republic. Easy drinking, crisp, bitter and dry, this beer is made for crushing by the liter. All the flavors and aromas you'd expect from a Czech-style Pilsner but at an easy drinking 3.5%ABV. A showcase for Bohemian floor-malted pilsner malt and Czech Saaz hops to shine. Fermented low and slow, lagered for 3 weeks and filtered clear, before its release to quench the thirst of Ashevillians and tourists alike. Prost!!
Czech Session Lager
Damn Fine Pilsner
A crisp noble hop forward German Pils with a clean Pils backbone. Expect notes of green hay, water cracker low honey and sweet grain from the malt. The hops impart complimentary notes of green hay, herbal nobility and floral hints. Medium low body with a palate cleansing bitterness in the finish.
Red Barchetta 2022
This beer is a west coast style double red ale, dry-hopped with both Chinook and Simcoe hops. The flavor is a blend of complex caramel malt character ranging from toffee to dried fruit & molasses, accompanied by mouth coating hop resin, pine, candied orange peel & grapefruit pith. Chewy, full flavored with a firm bitterness, this beer is a throwback to the hoppy red ales of years gone by. Watch out, the Nostalgia might getcha.
All Citra All The Time
What time is it? Citra Time!! Known and loved by almost every hophead on Earth, Citra is the highest acreage hop grown in the US. We went all in, using Citra in 3 forms in this double dry hopped hazy IPA. A citrus forward low, bitterness IPA with notes of orange zest, skittles, tangerine flesh, grapefruit peel and passionfruit dancing across your tongue. A hop adventure through the mystic land of Citra.
In awe of the stellar beauty brought to our eyes by the James Webb space telescope, we feel lost in the Nebulous Haze of our ever expanding universe. Inspired by the celestial pulchritude of the cosmos, we created this new Hazy IPA. Built around a simple malt base of Pilsner malt, raw wheat, two types of oats and hit with a heavy dose of Cryo Pop hop blend in the Whirlpool. Fermented with our house English ale strain before being judiciously double dry hopped with NZ Motueka and more Cryo hop blend. Expect heavy notes of lime daiquiris, mango, papaya & green melon, along with hints of apricot and peach in the aroma and flavor. Light notes of dank nugs and grapefruit come through in the finish, along with a faint hop burn. A creamy mouthfeel and low carbonation make this a sublimely decadent libation
Hoppy Blonde 2022
A beer to honor the one that keeps it all hopping for us here at the brewery. Our owner's tireless hard work & dedication is inspiring! This hoppy blonde ale is light and beautiful just like the woman behind the Man. Wendy, we are grateful for you! Nice honey and sweet malt flavor upfront with hints of pine/dank intermingled with low citrus and floral notes. Hop flavor is subdued in comparison with the aroma. Crisp and refreshing with a mild bitterness that doesn't linger, and a finish that is balanced.
5.3 % ABV
No Room 4 Cream
Our most popular coffee beer, No Room 4 Cream is a lightly hopped blonde ale that then is recirculated through an ever changing variety of whole bean coffee from our friends at Penny Cup Coffee. Expect notes of a classic cup of coffee on the nose with wafts of shortbread biscuit, honey and lemon. At the first sip you will find flavors reminiscent of light cocoa, dark stone fruit and a hint of lemony acidity. An easy drinker for the coffee lover in your life.
Coffee Blonde Ale
In celebration of Riverbend Malt house's 10th Anniversary we made this warming, medium-full bodied Wheatwine. We started off with a healthy helping of their new Sunset Wheat, and supported that with Base camp pale malt as well as a bit of honey malt. Hopped with Citra incognito and centennial, we then let this beer ferment to completion before an extended 7 weeks of cold conditioning to soften any rough edges. Expect a complex mélange of flavors and aromas from notes of honey buns and baking spice, to notes of fig, raisin, fruit cake and chewing tobacco. The hops lend an almost balancing bitterness but largely stay out of the way of the malt flavors. This beer was made for the cold, dreary days of an Asheville winter. Cheers, and congratulations to Riverbend on 10 years of supplying the southeast with great craft malt!
Big Beautiful Barley Wine
Our version of an American Barleywine, made with only the finest American 2-row, a touch of British crystal and loaded down with classic PNW hops. This easy drinking, sipper has a bracing bitterness that overpowers the light caramel sweetness. Punchy hop flavors of pine & resin dominate with supporting notes of citrus pith and a touch of earthiness. A beer for the depths of winter that will satisfy the hopheads need for those classic PNW hop flavors and aromas. Be careful, the drinkability of this beer hides its higher ABV well.
For our 25th year in business we decide to bring back some retired classics. Rambler is an easy drinking rye pale ale dry-hopped with Amarillo and a touch of centennial at a measly 3#/bbl. Hop forward but with a supporting malt backbone built around Riverbend Abruzzi rye malts. Expect notes of rye bread, light caramel and honey that support the jammy goodness of Amarillo and a light citrus character from the classic use of Centennial. Enjoy the return of Rambler, as it will only be around for a limited time!
Open to the Public
Another Hazy IPA adventure in hop exploration, this time with the newest USDA publicly bred hop, O74 (Vista). We dry hopped this beer a single time with 5.5 lbs/bbl of a combination of 074 and Strata in a 2:1 ratio. Expect loads of Orange and sweet citrus notes, blended with Peach, dried Mango, Grapefruit puree, light green Papaya and heady notes of Pine. Creamy with a smooth finish and low bitterness, this beer is a crusher.
We Made this Hazy IPA in memoriam of Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, Chevy Metal and Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders fame. Starting with a base of 2 row we layered in 2 types of oats and raw wheat to create a creamy body as a simple background for hops to shine upon. We judiciously added hops in the whirlpool before double dry hopping this beer with NZ Revolution hop blend and El Dorado to build layers of tropical fruit, citrus, lemongrass and a hint of green tea. Smooth on the tongue with low bitterness and pronounced hop flavor and aroma, this beer should satisfy your Hazy IPA needs.
A Black rye IPA made with two types of local rye malt and a judicious amount of hops from the Pacific Northwest. This style is visually deceptive, as its black color hints as roast, chocolate and coffee flavors, all of which are only background notes. The hops are the showcase in this beer and dominate the flavor and aroma with notes of grapefruit zest, pine, resin, strawberry & a touch of bubblegum. Well-attenuated, this beer finishes dry with a lingering minerality, which increases it's drinkability.
Black Rye IPA
A dark brown lager with Ruby highlights and a crystal clear clarity. Topped with an off-white persistent head that leaves lacing down the glass with each sip. A highly quaffable lager with a perfect balance of malt and hop flavors. The aroma opens with notes of light cocoa, cola and hints of dark stonefruit. The flavor is a combination of light roast coffee, chocolate, dark toast, and a touch of sweetness in the mid palate. The flavor finishes with a nice hit of herbal and slight woodiness from the hops and a cleansing dryness. Crisp, light bodied and crushable. Don't be deceived by the dark color, this beer is made to be enjoyed in an afternoon drinking session with friends, over good conversation. Enjoy!! Na zdravi!!! (To your health in Czech)
Czech Dark Lager
An Ode to the big, citrus and pine forward hoppy beers of the late 90s California beer scene. We brought these IPAs into the 21st century with an updated hop bill featuring Strata and selected Chinook along with a reduced malt presence. Bright, bitter, dry and loaded with citrus, resiny dankness and hints of tropical fruit flavor. This beer was made for those who crave a bit more bitterness and drinkability in their IPAs, but still crave the over the top hop flavor of the New England style. Expect big notes of clementine, grapefruit pith, apricot, Tang & hints of pine & dank greenery.
West Coast IPA
A classic, easy drinking American stout with heavy hits of roast and notes of espresso, mint chocolate chips, pine and resin. This throwback was resurrected just in time to celebrate the start of our 25th Anniversary. Draft only, and available in a limited quantity, enjoy this wintertime favorite while it lasts.
We crafted a traditional English brown porter, and then triple dosed it with the most coffee we've ever used in a beer! Using a Washed extended fermentation, Columbian coffee from our friends at Ventola Coffee, imported by Unblended Coffee and roasted by our long time collaborators Penny Cup Coffee in the RAD. A blend of hot & cold brewed coffee was used to create a blend of the best of both worlds. Strong notes of coffee come through in the aroma and flavor, bring about notes of cacao, salted caramel, shortbread cookie, a touch of citrus zest and a hint of cherry cola. Creamy and full flavored, this porter works as a great pick me up while touring the breweries of the south slope.
It's the G.R.E.E.N.
An Ode to the big, citrus and pine forward hoppy beers of the late 90s California beer scene. Bright, bitter, dry and loaded with citrus, resiny dankness and hints of tropical fruit flavor. West Coast IPA
Cocoa-Nut Milk Stout
Our milk stout base, with additions of French Broad Nicaraguan Crushed Cacao and a blend of toasted and untoasted coconut. Meant to evoke thoughts of homemade haystack clusters and German chocolate cake. Restrained additions of real adjuncts allow the beer to shine through while accenting the cocoa and coconut flavors coming from the malt. We keep the ABV on these stouts moderate so as to increase drinkability and allow for another pint. Enjoy!
This Double New England-style IPA was made with double the Phantasm and double dry hopped, for a total of 7lbs/bbl. Our second quest into the realm of high thiol IPAs. We set out with the goal to create a wort loaded with thiol precursors for Omega's Cosmic Punch strain to work on. These experiments are always made with the goal of creating a more aromatic and flavorful hop saturated experience. Expect a punch of Ruby Red grapefruit, candied mango, fruit cocktail and resin in the aroma. The flavor follows suit and doesn't disappoint with more bright citrus peel, mango candies, pineapple juice and OG Kush. Bitterness is restrained but helps clean the pillowy mouthfeel off your palette. Come join us on our journey into the depths of high thiol exploration.

A showcase for Epiphany Malts Ursprung Fest malt, a locally malted barley that is imported from Germany. The barley is sourced from the same farm that exclusively supplies the famed Bavarian breweries, Augustiner Brau & Ayinger Brau. It is then malted specifically to make Festbier. this delicious, quaffable lager is made to be drank all day by the liter in packed tents while reveling with friends new and old. Made using coffee roasted at Hatchet Coffee company in Boone, NC this is the sister beer of our Turkish Coffee Milk Stout.
Turkish Coffee Milk Stout
Made With Honduras Californeo, a Honey-processed coffee imported by De La Finca and roasted in Boone, NC by Hatchet Coffee. We had this coffee ground extra fine and then used the traditional Turkish method of coffee brewing. This method involves bringing water to a boil, then removing from heat and adding the extra fine ground coffee directly to the water and stirring to incorporate, the mixture is then brought to a boil and removed from heat again to stir. We then added green cardamom seed to the mixture and brought to a boil again before removing from heat and stirring once more. We then allow the coffee to sit so that the fine grounds will settle out and then removed the liquid before injecting it into the finished milk stout. this coffee has the consistency of hot cocoa and the intense full bodied coffee experience of espresso, the green cardamom lends a citrus and floral complexity to the aroma and flavor. @delafincacoffee @hatchetcoffee

Unrepentant Manchild NEIPA
A turbid hazy IPA with the body and Bitterness of a West Coast IPA, dry hopped at 6lbs./bbl. Sunshine yellow and opaque with a nice rocky head that dissipates to a thick halo and nice lacing. Green strawberry, mango, low pine and a smooth kush aroma in the nose, with a faint vanilla note in the finish. The flavor starts with a nice bitter bite with pronounced pine and sativa, follows with light mango and stonefruit and finishes with a tongue coating bitterness layered amongst more pine, lemon-lime pith and green dank buds. Malt only peaks through briefly, exhibiting a light cracker note in this hop focused beer. If bitterness and old school West Coast IPAs aren’t your thing, then I would steer clear of this bitter hop bomb. But if your tired of drinking sweet juice bombs and desire an opaque haze, then this is a must try palate wrecker.

A medium bodied brown ale built around the idea of everyone’s favorite crunchy Mexican street snack. We took the first runnings and boiled them down with cane sugar to create a heavy simple syrup, which was added back to the end of the boil along with a healthy dose of Mexican Cinnamon sticks. After fermenting out with our house English ale strain, we then let it rest on a moderate amount of toasted coconut, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla and even more cinnamon sticks. The resulting beer is light brown with ruby highlights and has a tan head. The upfront aroma is of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, with hints of smooth creamy vanilla. Flavors of Toasted caramel, cinnamon and light vanilla swirl around in the beginning and middle palate before the cinnamon brings out a med. Dry finish. Mai Tai Bock
A riff on the Mai Tai, we built an quaffable Maibock with a bit of rice to lighten the body and Belgian candi syrup to make a touch of light rum come through. Additions of pineapple and Meyer lemon builds on the fruit forward complexity of these cocktails, and the use of bitter orange peel, sweet orange peel, and dried Persian limes add a bit of character that usually is found in bitter orange liqueurs.
